Sinamics S120 extends range with Innovated Single Axis Controller



To complement the existing range of multi-axis SINAMICS S controllers,the innovated CU310-2 single axis controller is released for delivery.  As a successor to the CU310, the new controller brings more digital IO and analogue IO as well as onboard Ethernet for configuration and diagnostics.  Available as either a PROFIBUS or PROFINET variant the control unit has on board encoder input or can use the wide range of Siemens SIMOTICS motors with integrated DRIVE-CLiQ feedback.  Designed to support the latest S120 firmware v4.5, the CU310-2 can operate in either Servo or Vector mode and has a built in basic positioner which provides powerful and precise positioning functions. Due to its flexibility and adaptability, the basic positioner can be used for a wide range of positioning tasks.  The CU310-2 continues to support the wide range of SINAMICS S accessories including DRIVE-CLiQ connected terminal and sensor modules. 

SINAMICS S120 firmware v4.5 brings new features and functionality across the entire S120 drive platform.  Featuring new and enhanced safety integrated features such as SLP – Safely limited position which allows safe range limits in positioning systems without the requirement for additional hardware limits.  This brings the total number of available safety functions according to IEC 61800-5-2 in the Sinamics S range to 9

  •    CU310-2 PN: 1 PROFINET interface with 2 ports (RJ45 sockets) with PROFIdrive V4 profile
  •    CU310-2 DP: 1 PROFIBUS interface with PROFIdrive V4 profile

1 DRIVE-CLiQsocket for communication with the DRIVE-CLiQ motor or other DRIVE-CLiQ devices(e.g. Sensor Modules or Terminal Modules)

1 encoder evaluation for evaluating the following encoder signals

  •    Incremental encoder TTL/HTL
  •    SSI encoder without incremental signals

1 PE/protectiveconductor connection

1 connection for the electronics power supply via the 24 V DC power supply connector

1 temperature sensor input (KTY84‑130 or PTC)
