Siemens S7-1500

Our fastest controller for automation with less than 1ns bit processing time in the CPU

The Advanced Controller SIMATIC S7-1500 can be used in the entire automation industry in applications that are medium-sized to high-end machines with high demands on performance, communication, flexibility and technological features.

There are various CPU versions in several performance classes available for the SIMATIC S7-1500.

The portfolio includes standard CPUs and standard CPUs with the option of integrating C/C++ code. With the compact CPUs, the digital and analog I/Os are integrated, counter inputs and pulse inputs can be directly recorded on the CPU.

Standard and safety programs can be run on the same controller with the help of the fail-safe CPUs.

The Technology CPUs extend the Motion Control functions available in all SIMATIC S7-1500 controllers for demanding solutions.

Overview of SIMATIC S7-1500 modules

The SIMATIC S7-1500 features a modular design and can be scaled in terms of its functionality.

Different central processing units (CPU types) are available for multiple performance classes. A wide range of signal modules for input and output as well as technology modules for special technological functions, such as counting, and centralized and decentralized communication modules are available to serve as interfaces to the machine or plant. The SIMATIC S7-1500 is approved for protection class IP20 and designed for installation in a control cabinet.

FAQs

Devices and networks in TIA shows a red cross on the drive in online view. Why?

There is an error with the communication setting between the drive and PLC. This could be caused by:

- Inconsistencies in IP address and/or Profinet name in drive and PLC configuration.
- Telegrams in the PLC and drive are not configured in the same order.

What could be causing a  return value of 8090 for DPRD_DAT/DPWR_DAT?

The hardware ID may be incorrect on the LADDR input. The required ID is the one used by the telegram - not the ID of the drive. For Startdrive, this can be found in the device view by going to Properties > General > Telegram configuration > [device name] > Start address. For drives not configured with Startdive, this can be found in the device view byhighlighting the row of the telemgra in Device overview, then navigate to Properties > General > Hardware identifier.
